Theft of Water is a Crime

Unauthorized taking of water from a fire hydrant or any water line will be prosecuted, under state statute 18.2-162.1. Conviction of a class 2 misdemeanor will result in jail confinement for no longer than 6 months and a fine of not more than $1,000, either or both.

The public is urged to be observant and report any suspicious activity involving fire hydrants, to the Campbell County Sherriff’s office at 434-332-9574 or CCUSA at 434-239-8654.
From time to time, Campbell County Utilities and Service Authority (CCUSA) will be conduct fire hydrant maintenance.
